of these warehouses(仓库) of “efficiency” and profit.
In 2023, Super-droughts(超级干旱) led to Mega-floods(特大洪水).
Locusts carved a path across continents(蝗虫开辟了跨越大陆的道路)
and Hyper Typhoons(超强台风) drove millions from their homes.
COVID-23 raced through(穿过) storm shelters and refugee camps(难民营).
Supplies ran out(用完了) again.
Meanwhile, dinosaurs(恐龙) roamed(游荡) the halls of power,
bellowing(咆哮) that more sacrifice was needed.
But every time they cranked up(开动)
that rusty(生疏) old machine called “economic growth,”
the cloud of sickness and death grew.
Couldn’t breathe from the asthma(气喘) in our polluted communities.
We couldn’t breathe with a knee on our necks,
in the clouds of tear gas as we shouted:
“Black Lives Matter.”

对灾难的想象也许更简单一些,宿命论是最容易得到满足的东西;
而要想像一个真正更好的未来,是有难度的,但这也正是必须继续努力的地方。要使未来并不只是眼花缭乱的幻想,就必须有一条可靠的道路来实现这一目标。这正是直接行动的思考方式。
当我们看到保护性知识的受关注程度远高于其他内容的时候,我们知道,人们很可能并没有准备在所谓的“大洪水”中与邪恶同归于尽;我们认为这就是一线希望。
在此之上,缺少的就只是抛弃绝望的动力了。动力可能来自哪里?
